چکیده

Definition Zooming facilitates data presentation on limited screen real-estate by allowing the users to alter the scale of the viewport such that it shows a decreasing fraction of the information space with an increasing magnification. Hence the system may first present a global overview of the information space for the benefit of orientation, and in a second step, the users can then dynamically re-allocate the screen space based on the information objects they are interested in. A navigation technique commonly used in conjunction with zooming is panning: a movement of the viewport over the information space at a constant scale.

Image Zooming using Non-linear Partial Differential Equation

The main issue in any image zooming techniques is to preserve the structure of the zoomed image. The zoomed image may suffer from the discontinuities in the soft regions and edges; it may contain artifacts, such as image blurring and blocky, and staircase effects. This paper presents a novel image zooming technique using Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). It combines a non-linear Fourth-ord...

Super-Resolution for Synthetic Zooming

Optical zooming is an important feature of imaging systems. In this paper, we investigate a low-cost signal processing alternative to optical zooming—synthetic zooming by super-resolution (SR) techniques. Synthetic zooming is achieved by registering a sequence of low-resolution (LR) images acquired at varying focal lengths and reconstructing the SR image at a larger focal length or increased sp...

Tuning Shape Parameter of Radial Basis Functions in Zooming Images using Genetic Algorithm

Image zooming is one of the current issues of image processing where maintaining the quality and structure of the zoomed image is important. To zoom an image, it is necessary that the extra pixels be placed in the data of the image. Adding the data to the image must be consistent with the texture in the image and not to create artificial blocks. In this study, the required pixels are estimated ...

Solving the Inverse Problem of Image Zooming Using "Self-Examples"

In this paper we present a novel single-frame image zooming technique based on so-called “self-examples”. Our method combines the ideas of fractal-based image zooming, example-based zooming, and nonlocal-means image denoising in a consistent and improved framework. In Bayesian terms, this example-based zooming technique targets the MMSE estimate by learning the posterior directly from examples ...

Formative Evaluation of Flip Zooming: Towards Effective Integration of Detail and Context on Small Displays

We have developed and evaluated a prototype image browser based on flip zooming, a focus+context visualization technique. In a formative evaluation, we contrasted the technique with two other methods to present images. The evaluation showed that users appreciated the overview that the flip zooming prototype provided. However, we also learned that the current prototype lacked some important feat...

A New Technique for Image Zooming Based on the Moving Least Squares

In this paper, a new method for gray-scale image and color zooming algorithm based on their local information is offered. In the proposed method, the unknown values of the new pixels on the image are computed by Moving Least Square (MLS) approximation based on both the quadratic spline and Gaussian-type weight functions. The numerical results showed that this method is more preferable to biline...
